Decorating Your Wedding Reception With Paper
Brides are often overwhelmed when choosing their wedding
reception decor. While choosing decor poses stress to a bride, it
also takes up a huge chunk of the wedding budget. A fresh
do-it-yourself idea for wedding reception decor is paper art.
Making your reception decorations out of paper is a fun and creative
way to unleash any wedding decoration stress you may have hidden.
Not only is it productive and enjoyable, but it is also low-cost and
original.
Type of Paper
It really does not matter what type of paper you use for the paper
decorations. You can use any type of paper from construction paper
to colored printer paper. The only thing that matters is that your
choice of paper fits with the particular project you are creating.
You would not want to use a thin paper for a project that needs to
stand up straight. Thin paper will not stand up well. It is best
used for hanging projects. The prettier your paper, however, the
prettier your decoration will be. So, just be sure you are using
paper with an appropriate thickness for your chosen decoration.
Centerpiece Ideas
To make a fabulous centerpiece gather together paper that is about
the same thickness as cardstock. Use colors that will coordinate
well with you reception theme. You will also need long thick straws
made of plastic and glue or tape. You may choose to paint these gold
or silver if you like for an added touch.
After gathering your materials, take one piece of paper and roll it
into a cone shape. Secure it with tape or glue. Try to secure it in
a manner that is not visible from the outside. Leave enough room at
the bottom for the straw to slid into. Next, slide the straw up into
the cone and glue or tape it into place. In less than ten minutes
you can create a beautiful paper centerpiece.
Make several of these in different colors and of slightly varying
heights. Group three or four together and place them in a colorful
non-translucent vase in the center of your table. For an added
touch, try lightly spraying the paper with sparkling glaze paint
after completion. This adds a simple flair to the piece. You can
also try this with tissue paper if you like.
Ceiling Decor
Using paper, you can create cheap ceiling decor for your wedding
reception. Take sheer paper and cut it into long strips of varying
sizes. After cutting, simply tape the strips to the ceiling in
various places around the reception for instant ceiling decor. A
good tip is to tear the paper instead of cutting it. This creates a
more artistic edge to the paper and diverts it from looking like
preschool art.
Paper art is a great way to add a fresh look to wedding reception
decor. It is low-cost and creating it can be a stress relieving
experience. Grab several types of paper, get creative, and start
experimenting until you find your perfect paper wedding decoration.
