Wedding Decorating With Lamps

A decorative accessory often overlooked is the lamp. Lighting can make or break a room. Most brides would never think to use lamps in their wedding, however lamps can provide interesting wedding decor ideas. Done effectively, you can create a stylish look for your wedding using sophisticated lamps.

Lamps can be useful for their lighting as well as for the beauty they add to a wedding. If you are looking for a wedding decor idea that is unusual and stylish then try out these fabulous decorative ideas.

Lamp decorations can be used for both the ceremony and the reception. Lamps create a warm feeling to a wedding. They are sophisticated and artsy and guests will love feeling like they are cozying up on the sofa with their friends to watch a beautiful ceremony. They certainly work best for evening weddings.

Brides can transform basic lampshades into lovely pieces of art to use in their wedding. To create an artsy lampshade, simply remove the shade from the lamp. Use a glue gun to glue ribbon or other accessories around the outer bottom edge of the shade.

Brides can use whatever they like to decorate the shade. Ribbon with beading attached to it works beautifully. When attached, the beads hang down from the shade, glowing in the light. Sequin or gemstones also work well. This is an easy way for brides to tie the lamps into their wedding colors or theme.

The best lamps to use for a wedding ceremony are tall lamps with traditional A-frame shades. A soft yellow bulb will create a romantic lighting for your wedding ceremony. Other lamps appropriate for the ceremony include oriental themed lamps.

One style of oriental lamp that is particularly fashionable is the tall rice paper lamp. The lamps stand about five feet tall and the shade, made of rice paper, extends for the complete height of the lamp.

Tall lamps are great for the outside aisles of the seating area. Brides can place a tall lamp at the end of each aisle. It is best to keep them away from the center so no one trips over the cords. Electrical cords should be hidden as much as possible to prevent accidents. These lamps can also be placed near the front and rear of the ceremony location.

For a wonderful centerpiece idea, consider using mini lamps. These small lamps can come in many heights and styles. Victorian style “reading” lamps work great for weddings. If you do not have the means to run electrical cords to each table, consider the faux candle lamps. These faux lamps emit their glow due to tea light candles. They are adorable and low-cost to use for your reception.

Lamps add a creative flair to your wedding. They are pleasing to the eye and will make your guests feel completely at home. They offer a friendly ambience that guests will cherish. Using these wedding decor ideas, you are sure to create wonderful pieces of art to use during your wedding.
