Tips For Home Wedding Decoration

More and more couples are choosing to forgo the expensive church wedding and elope or have a simple ceremony. Some couples are even deciding to have their wedding at their home or at a friend’s home. Home wedding decoration can be tricky.

Trying to transform a home into a place appropriate for a wedding can be a challenge at best. However, with these simple tips couples can create beautiful home wedding decoration with ease.

If possible, the best place to arrange a home wedding is outdoors. If the location has a nice yard or garden and the season is nice, the couple should definitely have the wedding outdoors. When planning an outdoor home wedding, you would decorate much like you would for a garden wedding.

If you do not have a place outdoors, or if the weather is not suitable, try having your wedding in a basement area. Basements are usually roomier and less cluttered than other places in a home. Most of the furniture in a basement can be moved to create room for the wedding.

If you cannot have your wedding outdoors and you don’t have a basement, don’t fret! You can have a home wedding anywhere. The first thing you should do is clear out the ceremony room. Getting all of the furniture out of the room will make it look bigger and allow you space to decorate and set up a few chairs.

The next thing you need to do is cover the ceiling and walls with fabric draperies. These draperies create a relaxed mood for the wedding. They also hide existing wall decor that can be distracting. Be sure to leave space for lighting however. If you do want to cover the overhead lights, you can always bring in lamps.

Next, you need to create designated space for seating and for the couple. Using a wedding arch is a great way to do this. A wedding arch will set apart the space meant for the bride and groom. It will help the guests focus on the ceremony itself. Use white chairs if possible to set up seating. If the chairs do not match then cover them.

For music, do not try to get too complicated. A simple CD player will work wonders if you are without a piano. If you insist on live music, hire a guitarist to play soft acoustical pieces. The musician will not take up much room and you can have live music.

Home wedding decoration does not have to be difficult or in poor taste. It can be elegant and easy to put together. The most important thing to do however is set the background. Putting together the background should be the most elaborate part of decorating for a home wedding and the guests should be able to notice it.

Using these tips you can create a wedding background that will be easy to fill with lovely wedding decor. Without an appropriate background however, your wedding will look unorganized and messy even if you have wonderful decorations.
