How to Decorate a Garden For a Wedding
Decorating a garden for a wedding doesn’t have to be difficult.
By using what is already there, decorating the garden can be
easily accomplished. The most important aspect in decorating for a
garden wedding is the arrangement.
It necessary that guests are
able to see distinct areas for each part of the ceremony. There
should be separate areas for seating of the guests, for the bride
and groom, and for the reception. Using decorative boundaries such
as an arch and well-placed chairs, this can be achieved without
hassle.
A great way to create seating is to place white chairs in rows
with an empty aisle down the middle. To dress the chairs, decorate
each one with a tulle bow across the chair back. The bow should be
tied directly in the middle of the back of the chair. For chairs
that are old or of a color that is not appropriate for the
wedding, simply drape fabric over each one for a complete cover.
To make an officiating area the couple can use an arch or pedestal
to mark off the area. An arch is great because it not only blocks
off the area but it also frames a ceremony nicely. It can be
decorated with flowers, greenery, tulle, or decorative lights to
add personal flair.
The minister should stand in the center of the
arch with the bride and groom slightly off to each side. The
attendants do not need to be under the arch, but can stand to each
side. If a pedestal is used, it should be centered and the
minister should stand directly behind it. The
pedestal is a great
place to put a unity candle.
The bride can still choose to use an aisle runner to avoid getting
her dress soiled, however, she and her attendants should walk with
caution if they are wearing heels. Heels can drag an aisle runner
when it has been placed on grass.
It is wonderful to center the
wedding setup around a paved path if it is available. If there is
no paved path, the bride can also choose to purchase pavers from a
local home improvement store. These pavers are decorative and can
be simply laid together on the grass to create a safe and
effective aisle for the bride.
For a garden wedding, the bride should certainly consider her
lighting options. A garden wedding in midday should be no worry,
however when having a late afternoon or evening garden wedding,
lighting can be tricky.
For lighting needs, brides should consider
using white lights to decorate. They are safer and easier to
maintain than candles. Candles can create an extremely romantic
mood however. If the bride chooses to light her wedding with
candles alone, she should make sure paths are well lit to avoid
injury.
Decorations for the wedding should be extremely easy considering
the garden is probably already beautiful. However, by adding more
color, the garden can only get prettier. This can be achieved by
bringing in arrangements of colorful flowers or even potted plants
and flowers.
The bride should lean toward pastel or bright colors.
Dark colored decorations should be avoided. Trees or unsightly
bushes can be covered with tulle and lights for a dreamy look.
A garden wedding can be one of the most beautiful and natural
weddings planned. Using nature and a few decorative touches, a
garden can easily be transformed into a proper ceremony location.
