Do-It-Yourself Chair Decorations

Many weddings today are held outdoors. With an outdoor wedding you are almost certain to be using chairs for the seating area. Sometimes the chairs available for use are in good condition and look presentable. Often times however, the chairs need a little decorating help to get them ready for the ceremony. Chair decorations should be easy enough to attach to the chairs in less than an hour. Using these foolproof tips, you can get a handle on your chair decorations in no time.

The best way to hide an ugly chair is to cover it. Covering a chair can be the fastest way to make it look new again. To cover a chair for a wedding you will need sheer fabric, safety pins, and wide decorative ribbon. First, lay your fabric over the chair and cut enough to hang over the chair and onto the floor. You will use more fabric for the front than you did for the back, due to the seat.

After cutting the fabric and arranging it on the seat, simply tuck the excess under the chair and safety pin if necessary. For a bride with more time, you can remove the fabric, hem the edges, and put it back on the chair. Finally, drape your wide ribbon around the front of the chair and tie a large bow in the back of the chair. Stand back and admire how quickly you transformed an ugly chair into a beautiful seat.

If your chairs are lovely as they are, then you may consider just dressing them up a bit. Using the same type of wide ribbon discussed in the chair covering, you can add a bow to an already pretty chair. By laying the ribbon around the back of the chair and tying a large bow in the back, you can instantly dress up a plain chair. Wired ribbon is great to use, as it will allow the bow to stay in place.

Draping flowered garland over the back of a chair is also a great way to get it ready for the ceremony. Brides can attach the garland using clear wire or fishing line. Remember however that guests will be uncomfortable resting their backs directly on the garland, so be careful of its placement.

Small bouquets of flowers work well for chair decoration too. To get this look, tie together a small bouquet of flowers. Next, secure the bouquet with a ribbon. Finally, attach the bouquet with wire or a tiny hanger to the center of the chair’s back. In just a few minutes you have created a beautiful decorative addition to your wedding.

Different styles of chairs may require different hanging methods, however these ideas can be adapted to fit any chair. Chair decorations are a great way to add that something extra to your wedding ceremony. They allow the guests a beautiful place to sit while enjoying your wonderful ceremony. Chair decorations are so easy that you can put them together in no time with the help of family and friends.
