How To Create Ceiling Wedding Decoration
Ceiling decoration is often overlooked in a wedding. Although it
is not always seen as important in planning, ceiling wedding
decoration can help pull a wedding’s look together.
Once you attend a wedding with fabulous ceiling decoration, you will
never look at wedding decoration the same way. Using common wedding
decoration tools and a little help from friends and family, brides
can create their own ceiling wedding decor.
Draping
Draping is one of the most popular ways to create ceiling decoration
for a wedding. Brides can choose to drape any kind of fabric to
create the personalized look they want. This effect requires large
amounts of material however, and may not be feasible for larger
ceremony locations.
Brides simply drape sheets of material from one point on the ceiling
to the next. Material is best secured using drapery hooks that are
placed into the ceiling. Creating layers with the material, brides
can cover the entire ceiling. Most brides opt for accent drapery,
and only use it to highlight certain areas.
Adding greenery of floral vinery to the drape is a great way to
enhance the look of the material. Wide ribbon can also be draped by
itself or with material to create a unique wedding look. A great
material to use in this activity is tulle, which can be bought in a
variety of colors.
Hanging
When you think of hanging objects from the ceiling for a wedding,
most of us cringe. We probably imagine our first grade classroom
with its hanging snowflakes during Christmas. However, hanging items
can really add to the decoration of a wedding if they are done
creatively and stylishly.
One of the most beautiful ways to use the hanging technique for
ceiling decoration is achieved by using tulle, ribbon, a hot glue
gun, and coordinating theme accents such as butterflies. To make the
hangings, brides should cut wide strips of tulle. The length of each
strip is the bride’s choice. After cutting the strips, it is then
time to add the decorations. Using the glue gun, brides can add
ribbon to the tulle in any pattern they wish.
One idea is to take the ribbon and attach it in a vertical position
all the way down the length of the tulle. Also, brides may choose to
attach tiny bows made of the ribbon onto the tulle. Finally, accents
such as butterflies or silk flowers can be attached to the tulle to
finish the hanging.
After the hanging is finished and dry, it can be attached to the
ceiling of the ceremony location using anything from thumbtacks to
nails. It is important the bride checks with the location’s director
before making holes in the ceiling however. These hangings should be
placed all around the location, creating a whimsical and romantic
scene for the wedding.

Lighting
Lighting is a great way to draw attention upward in a wedding. White
strings of lights are a fantastic way to achieve wonderful lighting
with ease. Brides can string these lights all over the ceiling of
the ceremony to add a romantic touch. This is especially effective
for evening weddings or tent weddings. Lights are used best when
paired with another decorative accent such as greenery, tulle, or
ribbon.
