Inexpensive Wedding Decorations That Double As Wedding Favors
Inexpensive wedding decorations become unexpected luggage to
pack up when the reception is over – unless you have your wedding
decorations double as wedding favors.
It’s difficult enough to come up with the money to cover the cost
of the reception hall, the wedding dress, food and drinks for
everyone, your honeymoon, the invitations – without worrying that
your guests won’t have a little memento to take home that does you
and your big day justice. It’s simple to create gorgeous wedding
decorations and personal wedding favors at the same time and
inexpensively as well.
To begin, find a holder or receptacle that suits your wedding
theme shape and style preferences. For example, a vase or a
2”x2”x2” favor box, a fish bowl or a votive holder all work well
as both wedding decorations and wedding favors and are inexpensive
as well, especially when bought in bulk. Alone, wedding
decorations made of glass or silver will reflect light and sparkle
so if you have a few dollars extra and want to purchase a few
extra to fill out the table without filling them with wedding
favor treasures, go for it.
Fill your chosen receptacle with creative and inexpensive favors
that is also decorative. A vase, for example, could be filled
layers of colored sand that match your wedding colors with a fake
flower or cactus sprouting from the top. A cluster of these in the
middle of your table, one for each seat, will prove decorative and
a nice treat to take home for each of your guests.
If you choose a fish bowl as your inexpensive receptacle, you can
easily turn it into a wedding decoration by filling it a third of
the way with glass marbles that match your wedding colors. When
you fill the fish bowl with water and drop in a small fish that
matches your colors like a beta or Japanese fighting fish or a
simple goldfish, you not only have a gorgeous living decoration
but a no one will go home alone!
Votive holders are obvious choices as inexpensive wedding
decorations. Filled with a scented votive and lit during the
reception, they offer soft lighting and a pleasant smell. Chances
are that you don’t want your guests to take home a used votive
candle as a wedding favor, so choose different sized votives and
fill half with candles to be lit and the other half with something
pretty to catch the light like rhinestone sprays or silk roses
sprayed with glitter.
Favor boxes are the least expensive way to go for wedding
decorations. Fill the box with your wedding favor prior to
decorating. Jordan almonds, a small picture frame ornament of you
and your sweetie, or toy or figurine that goes along with your
wedding theme are all good choices to fill the box. Seal the
wedding favor with ribbons, silk flowers, or chiffon ties that
accent your wedding colors then pile the boxes in the middle of
the tables and you’ve accomplished two things at once –
inexpensive wedding decorations and inexpensive wedding favors –
in one swoop!
