Making the Best of Outdoor Theme Weddings

Outdoor theme weddings are perfect during the warm summer months. Couples are able to symbolize their love and devotion to each other in a place other than a church. Great locations for outdoor weddings include beaches, hillsides, parks, and even backyards. Smaller ceremonies are perfect for these locations.

For outdoor theme wedding decorations, we recommend Shindigz.com for a large selection and low prices.  For more online merchants, please visit our buyers guide.

Although beautiful, there are factors that the couple should consider when planning outdoor theme weddings. The most obvious factor is the weather. Many who dreamed of an outdoor wedding, but opt to have it indoors. This is mainly to avoid any mishaps like rain and other inclement weather.

While reading a bridal magazine I saw a comment from a bride who admitted that she made herself physically ill from over-obsessing about the weather. Her outdoor theme wedding was in jeopardy because of a hurricane headed in her direction. Sadly, this bride did not have a back-up plan.

A back-up plan is essential when planning an outdoor wedding. The weather is unpredictable. A lot of sweat and tears go into planning a wedding. It would be a shame to cancel the event due to weather. In situations like this everyone is inconvenienced. Family and friends sacrificed time and money to travel. The newlyweds may have made honeymoon plans that cannot be changed.

Outdoor theme weddings are less expensive than renting a facility. However it is imperative that a secondary location is selected. This location could be inside someone’s home or a community clubhouse. Worst case scenario, reserve a section of a nice restaurant. When a secondary location is not available, couples can use large tents. Tents will keep guests dry, but they will not protect against wind.

Those planning an outdoor theme wedding may consider scheduling it in the evening. Most outdoor weddings occur in the summer. Early afternoon weddings may not be ideal because guests will be exposed to the hot sun for several hours.

If an evening wedding is not an option, tents may be used to shield the sun. Water and cold beverages should also be available. Large electric fans are great for cooling a crowd. Early afternoon weddings that occur along the shore may not be burdensome. The wind from the water will provide a cool breeze. Guests should be told in advance that the wedding will be outdoors. This allows them to dress accordingly.

Outdoor theme weddings are subjected to noise and insects. It may be ideal for the couple to speak through a microphone when saying their vows. Sounds from passing cars, sirens, dogs barking, and the wind can make it difficult for guest to hear. Instead of using a corded microphone it may be easier for the couple to use a small microphone that discretely attaches to their attire.

During the summer months bugs are on the rampage. To prevent guests from getting attacked by mosquitoes, the grounds should be properly treated for insects. The guest should be able to sit comfortably without having to continually shoo away flies.
