Homemade Wedding Decorations
Simple Homemade Wedding Decorations
Homemade wedding decorations are ideal for couples who are on a
tight budget, or simply want to save money. Weddings are expensive.
The thriftiest weddings can cost hundred, maybe even thousands of
dollars. Some couples have financial situations that may allow them
to have the wedding of their dreams. These couples have either saved
money to pay for nuptials, or have parents with huge bank accounts.
Although there is no way to avoid the rising cost of weddings,
couples can lower the expense by not hiring experts, and doing most
of the work themselves. Wedding related work that the couple can do
include making their own invitation, having a home wedding, and
using homemade wedding decorations.
Do-it-yourself wedding decor is becoming popular. Those who must
have homemade wedding decorations have no reason to feel ashamed or
embarrassed. Wedding decorations are expensive to buy, and often
times require a professional to assemble.
Although expensive, wedding decorations are generally simple. This
includes centerpieces, candles, floral arrangements, balloons,
tulle, etc. Most couples buy these decorations already made from
wedding designers; therefore the price is greatly inflated.
Invitations are a huge expense.
Fortunately there are kits for making invitations. The only
requirement is a computer and printer. Couples are able to save a
lot of money making the decorations themselves. The supplies can be
bought at local craft stores and put together in a weekend.
Homemade wedding decorations are fun to make. Granted, some couples
do not have experience making crafts. They may feel that a task this
important is too challenging and opt to buy decorations. However
before bowing out, couples should at least try.
There are resources to help with making floral arrangements. Bridal
guides and magazines offer step-by-step instructions to assist in
this task. These guides with instruct the couple on what to buy,
where to buy it, how much to buy, and provide simple instructions on
how to construct the decorations.
Making decorations requires patience and practice. Initially the
decoration may not look like the picture in the book. However with
continual practice it will not be long before decorations began to
look beautiful and professional. Couples who decide on homemade
floral arrangements should not wait until the last minute. They
should begin making decorations months prior to the wedding
ceremony.
Homemade wedding decorations also include table centerpieces.
Centerpieces do not have to be elaborate. A simple mirror and candle
holder can add a touch of elegance. Reception halls typically
provide centerpiece options – at an additional cost. Couples on a
budget may decide to put together their own centerpieces. Glass
candle holders and flat mirrors are very inexpensive.
The average wedding has approximately a hundred guests. Guests are
usually seated ten to a table. On average only ten centerpieces will
be needed. Couples should visit small chain retailers or closeout
stores for some great deals on candles, holders, and mirrors.
Mirrors will be placed in the center of the table. Candle holders
are then placed on top of the mirrors. The mirror will beautifully
reflect the lit candle. Rose petals can be scattered on the mirror
to add a nice finished touch.
Wedding favors can also be made at home. Simple parting gifts
include wrapping Hershey kisses, a candle, or potpourri in tulle
fabric. When planning a wedding couples should use their money
wisely. Weddings do not have to cost a fortune to be lovely.
