Tips for Decorating for a Home Wedding

Decorating for a home wedding should be done the night before the wedding. Those who are having home weddings may think that decorating for them will be easier. However, regardless of the location of the wedding, decorating for a wedding is time consuming and involves a lot of details.

Home weddings may be a little more difficult. Unlike reception halls and churches, our homes are filled with furniture and accents that take up a lot of space. Before we are able to begin decorating for a home wedding, furniture, shelves, and tables must be re-positioned which will allow room for chairs and other necessary wedding decor.

Home weddings can take place inside the home or outside. Outside weddings may be better because this allows room for all guests to view the ceremony comfortably. Nonetheless outdoor home weddings could possible pose other worries.

For starters, outdoor weddings can only take place during warm weather months. Still, warm weather does not guarantee great weather. Outdoor home weddings run the risk of being postponed or moved due to inclement weather. In the case of home weddings held outdoors, decorating should be done the day of the wedding. There is a high risk of chairs and decorations being damaged if left outdoors overnight.

Indoor home weddings may be more ideal. The downside is that unless a home is very large, it may not be able to accommodate a lot of guests. However home weddings are perfect for ceremonies that only include close family and friends.

Decorations for a home wedding can be simple or elaborate. Some couples who decide on a home wedding do so because their funds are limited. Therefore they may not have a lot of disposable income for decorations. Wedding decorations can be costly. Fortunately there are ways to inexpensively decorate a home wedding.

When decorating for a home wedding it would be a good idea to de-clutter the room where the ceremony will be held. If feasibly, move all furniture out of the room. This will allow the decorating committee to line chairs for the guests to sit.

White chairs can be rented, or regular folding chairs can be used. If using folding chairs, try and find white ones. If white chairs are not available, sheer white or cloth material could be used as decorative covers. Tying a bow to the back of chairs also adds a nice touch. The path that the bride will take could be lined with a white carpet. Flower petals may be used to accent the carpet.

Those decorating for a home wedding should not forget to include a small altar. This is the area where the couple will recite their vows. Indoor altars can be decorated with planted or vined flowers. Gazebos are perfect for outdoor altars.

It does not take much to beautifully decorate a home wedding. Couples who are marrying on a budget only need flowers; a few decorative bows, and possibly some lit candles to create a picturesque home wedding.
