Garden Theme Wedding
Personal Garden Wedding Themes
Garden wedding themes bring personality to the traditional
floral wedding decorations. Whether you decide to have your wedding
indoors or out, you can have the feel of walking through your
personal garden on your wedding day.
Begin by thinking what type of gardens you like best. Do you like
the ordered structure of an English garden? Or do you prefer the
more laissez-faire attitudes of the French garden with its mixtures
of colors and textures? Do you love a garden theme centered on
butterflies and the flowers they love? Or are you attracted to the
wildflowers with their simplicity and bold colors? Once you have
decided on the type of garden you envision for your wedding day, it
is easy to plan your wedding decorations.
An English Garden Theme
An English garden theme is inspired by the traditional English
garden with its crisp borders filled with similar flowers and color.
English garden themes have a basic floral palette, but its
simplicity evokes a feeling of elegance. Work with a florist to
determine which flowers will be in season during your wedding, and
pick one color and a few types of flowers. A bouquet made entirely
of white tulips or blue hydrangeas wrapped with ribbon makes a
stylish statement. Also, consider using topiaries to accent your
flower choices, as well as, add structure to your arrangements.
A Laissez-Faire Garden Theme
A French garden theme provides more options when it comes to your
flower palette. Bouquets can be made up of roses, lilies, and
freesia in a multitude of colors. Herbs, fruits or vegetables can
also be used in your bouquets. With a French garden theme, anything
can go with your wedding decorations.
Accent pieces are also important to your French garden theme décor.
You can decorate your reception tables with antique looking vases
filled with your choice of flowers. Also, consider adding a small
water feature to add the sound of bubbling water to your reception.
A Butterfly Garden Theme
Butterfly decorations had a touch of fun to garden wedding theme
decorations. However, the backbone of your floral arrangements
should come from flowers that attract butterflies, such as,
honeysuckle, jasmine, or lilies. As you create your bouquets and
table arrangements, tuck in a butterfly to create the look that they
have just landed at your special event. Butterflies can also show up
in your wedding invitations, bridesmaids’ jewelry or wedding favors.
A Wildflower Garden Theme
A wildflower garden theme brings in the natural world to your
ceremony. You can decide to grow pots of your favorite wildflowers,
or you can work with a florist to create a natural bouquet. Be sure
to include natural grasses in your arrangements to add color and
texture. And to remind guests of your special day, send your guests
home with packets of wildflower seeds to plant their own wildflower
garden.
Regardless of the garden theme you choose, personalize it with your
choice of wedding decorations. Accent pieces, including pots,
ribbons, and lights, will make your wedding unique. If you need
inspiration, look through garden books or visit local gardens. It is
the special decorating touches that will make your wedding special.
