Butterfly Garden Theme Wedding
A Butterfly Garden Wedding
Butterflies symbolize transformation and rebirth, appropriate
for a wedding theme. Butterfly wedding decorations also add a
whimsical touch with little effort. Whether your wedding colors are
jewel tones or pastels, you can find butterfly decor that will
match. You can add butterflies to floral arrangements, centerpieces,
and even cake decorations. The following ideas will hopefully
provide you with some inspiration on how to best include butterflies
in your wedding decorations.
Invitations
The type of wedding invitations you choose will set the mood for
your guest. Fortunately, many wedding stationary companies have come
out with several different styles of butterfly wedding invitations.
If you want an elegant feel for your wedding, you may want to choose
embossed butterflies on white paper. However, if your preference is
for a more casual atmosphere, you can decide on colorfully printed
butterfly stationary.
Whimsical Touches
Butterflies can show up anyplace in your wedding decorations. You
may choose to tuck jeweled butterflies in your bridesmaids’ bouquet
or give them a butterfly charm necklace to wear. You can ask your
florist to attach one or two medium size butterflies in your larger
floral arrangements. Butterfly napkin rings will be a conversation
piece at your reception tables. Let your guest unexpectedly discover
butterflies throughout your wedding day.
Butterfly Friendly Flowers
Instead of using traditional roses and orchids in your floral
arrangements, use flowers that attract butterflies. Butterflies like
bright, fragrant flowers, such as sweet peas and phlox. There are
dozen of choices to pick from, but ask your florist which ones will
work as cut flowers.
Send Butterfly Wishes
A whimsical wedding favor is to send flower seeds that attract
butterflies with your guest. Some companies offer paper shaped
butterflies that are embedded with wildflower seeds. You can also
package butterfly attracting flower seeds, such as sweet pea,
milkweed and lupine, in butterfly boxes with directions on how to
plant. Instead of seeds, you may choose to fill the boxes with
chocolates or candy. Another option is to send butterfly-shaped
soaps or candles home with guest.
Butterfly Cake Decorations
There are several ways to include butterflies on your wedding cake.
You can choose to have edible butterflies included in a couple of
ways. The first way is to order edible paper butterflies. These are
inexpensive and they look almost lifelike. The second possibility is
to use candy butterflies made out of sugar, chocolate, or marzipan.
If you have a skilled cake decorator, they can also create
butterflies out of frosting. Plastic or beaded butterflies can also
top your cake, especially if you choose to use cut flowers on your
cake.
Releasing Live Butterflies
For a breathtaking ending to your day, have guests release live
butterflies rather than throw the traditional rice. In order for the
butterflies to take flight, the temperatures will need to be above
62 degrees and it will still need to be daylight. Choose a company
that will ship indigenous butterflies, so future generations can
survive in your area.
A few additions of butterflies to your wedding decorations will
remind you and your guests of the new life you are starting together
as a couple.
