Creative Organza Wedding Decor Ideas

When you hear the word ‘wedding’, what comes to mind? For most people it probably conjures up images of a bride in a white wedding dress and lots of frilly wedding decorations. Organza is the stiff silk netting that is used in a lot of wedding dresses and wedding decorations. Here are a few organza wedding decor ideas for you to consider.

A simple way to add organza decor to your wedding is to use it for wedding reception table decoration. One easy idea is to use organza as coasters. You may be able to find pre-made organza coasters at a party or wedding supply shop. If you want something custom, simply purchase a bolt of organza fabric, also called tulle or netting, in the desired color, cut into small squares, apply starch, and then cut out the shapes you want.

The idea of cutting your own shapes from a bolt of tulle offers you unlimited ways to add organza wedding decor throughout your wedding. You can create shapes that fit your wedding theme if you are planning to have a themed wedding. For a beach theme wedding, cut out palm tree shapes. For a Hawaiian theme wedding, cut out pineapple shapes. For a traditional wedding, you might cut out shapes in the form of flowers, butterflies, and hearts.

With the shapes cut out, you can add organza wedding decor in many ways. One idea is to tie the organza shapes to the end of ribbons attached to helium filled balloons. For an indoor wedding reception, this will allow the balloons to do more than simply cover the ceiling. The organza dangling from the balloons via decorative ribbons will really create a wonderful show. For added affect, you can vary the lengths of the ribbons.

You can also use starched shapes to create 2-D organza wedding decor. As an example, if you are planning a Christmas theme wedding, you can cut Christmas tree shapes. Then, cut a slit from the bottom of one Christmas tree shape up the middle to the center of the tree. Then cut a slit from the top of another Christmas tree shape down the middle to the center of the tree. Now, join the two shapes by sliding them together through the slits. You can use this organza wedding decoration as a reception table centerpiece or dangle it from a balloon.

You can go one step further by assembling the organza shapes into 3-D decorations. Using the Christmas tree scenario again, you would take three Christmas tree shapes, stand them up and form a triangle, with the shapes touching edges. You can use a glue gun or strong adhesive tape to fasten the shapes together. Now you have a free standing organza wedding decoration that can accommodate a candle or flower arrangement, making a lovely wedding reception table centerpiece.

Organza fabric comes in many colors, which allows you to create decorations that match the theme of the wedding. This can also be beneficial if you chose to decorate with organza as offsetting accents. With a little imagination, you can find numerous other ways to incorporate organza wedding decor into your event.
