Dallas Wedding Decoration
A Wedding Deep in the Heart of Texas
If you are a southern belle or southern gentleman raised in Texas’
most famous city, you’ll want to stay true to your roots when
planning your wedding. A wedding with Dallas themed wedding
decorations will be the talk of the town.
With a little careful planning and an active imagination, a tasteful
Dallas wedding is a cinch. Here are a few fun ideas for a “Big D”
wedding:
Dress
Have your caterers join in the fun. Cowboy boots and cowboy hats
make for a great western-inspired uniform. Plus, those tall cowboy
hats will help the guests find a server quickly whenever they need a
drink refill!
Consider an updated dress code for your guests. Perhaps the
invitation should read “Black Tie and Boots” to get guests into the
spirit of the event.
Flowers
Yellow roses are traditionally associated with Texas and the
bluebonnet is the official state flower. The blue and yellow Texas
flower colors should be used abundantly when selecting floral
arrangements. Use white as an accent color when putting together the
bouquets. Put in the time to comparison shop and find the freshest
blooms in town, before selecting your florist. You’ll be pleased you
did the legwork when your flowers still look fresh as you head off
to your honeymoon.
Table Decorations
Linens should be neutral so they don’t detract from the carefully
selected setting or the breathtaking flowers. Keep the table setting
simple with white candles. One spot to get inventive—place cards.
Use the Lone Star Flag for a proud Texas touch.
The Setting
The best reception setting for Dallas wedding decorations will have
a hint of rustic romance to them. A historic home would be a
wonderful option to combine elegance and civic pride. Check out The
Wyatt Mansion. It was completed in 1916 and has been wonderfully
restored. Or give a call to the Dallas historical society for other
suggestions. Another ideal location would be an old plantation or
similar outdoor sight that has room for hay bales, wagon wheels and
lots of wide open spaces.
The Feast
Any respectable Texan will plan on dancing up a storm at your
reception. The food should be hearty and plentiful. Guests will want
to graze in between two-stepping and checking out the grounds of
your well-selected venue. A buffet works best when trying to satisfy
a large group. A Dallas style BBQ is a perfect solution. Side dishes
would include cornbread, baked beans and corn. I would suggest
skipping the Texas chili!
The baker can work with a few interesting ideas when designing the
cake. Two creative ideas: a large sheet cake designed to look like
the Texas flag or a wedding cake embellished with the yellow roses
similar to the floral arrangements.
The Music
A Texas swing band will have the group on the dance floor in no
time. This music is popular with all generations and is sure to keep
the party going for hours.
Take these ideas and brainstorm about your own favorite Texas
traditions. A Dallas themed wedding will be the hit of the wedding
season.
