Popular Outdoor Wedding Theme Ideas

Planning an outdoor wedding theme can be as individual as you are. Popular outdoor wedding theme ideas include Oceanside, rose garden, gazebo as well as your own backyard.

Fans of an Oceanside outdoor wedding theme can have fun choosing colors and decorations that are light and breezy. The bride can choose a wedding gown that is simple and elegant with gauze details so that her dress can look lovely with the ocean breeze.

Bridesmaid’s dresses can be of any color; aqua and blue tones are especially pretty with the backdrop of the ocean surf. Invitations can be simple or as unusual as being sent in a bottle. Decorations can be beautiful such as a small iron gazebo for the ceremony being adorned with seashells or ribbons matching the bridesmaid’s dresses.

The reception favors and decorations can have an ocean theme also with scented votive candles, seashell soap favors and the served food can have a seafood theme.

A very popular outdoor wedding theme is the traditional ceremony in a rose garden. Many young brides love the romantic idea of being married amongst the scent of damask roses and carrying a bouquet of tea roses. This is a wonderful theme for women who want to wear traditional gowns and invoke an antique theme at their receptions.

Many brides to be who choose the southern antebellum theme enjoy the rose garden wedding. If the reception is being held outdoors as well you can decorate your tables with roses, use rose-scented votives and pillar candles and even decorate the wedding cake with rose petals. Just be sure to intersperse your color scheme with lots of white so the theme doesn’t become monochromatic.

Gazebo ceremonies are popular for the outdoor wedding theme. Gazebo’s can be decorated with ribbons, seashells, and balloons or simply left unadorned. These are nice for the ceremony and can protect the couple and their attendants in case of inclement weather. The only downside to the gazebo wedding is that sometimes it is difficult for the photographer to take pictures with so many supports in the way.

The backyard is the simplest of the outdoor wedding theme ceremonies and receptions. Many problems can be resolved with this type of wedding such as having canopies and tents placed on the property for protection from rain or hot and sunny days. The tents can be decorated to be intimate and luxurious with miniature white lights above, lanterns outside of the tents, candle light on the tables and flowers planted in your flower beds in the bride’s color scheme.

The benefits to a backyard wedding are many. There is no need to rush to a church or pay for one, the reception is also on your own property and there is no need to rent a hall or evict your friends when the building closes. The bride is in control of all of these aspects.

Friends and family may also enjoy the relaxed atmosphere the backyard wedding offers. Your overnight guests can dance the night away at your house and maybe even enjoy a backyard breakfast the morning after the festivities.

No matter which outdoor wedding theme a bride chooses she can have fun with the decorations and reception planning to make it a memorable day for all.
