How To Have The Best Seat In The House: Chair Decorations For Your Wedding

While it may seem that chairs are the least of your worries when planning your wedding, chair decorations can make a big impact on your special day.

Chair decorations are an easy way to make an event appeared pulled together and accent your wedding theme or colors. Flowers, bows, satin, tulle, organza and more can come together to make unique chair decorations perfect for your wedding.

Covers
Chair covers are an easy way to add instant class to your wedding. It makes the reception area look uniform, and you can cover just about any chair in a variety of fabrics. The most common fabrics for chair covers are linen and satin, but velvets have also become popular recently. The most common chair cover colors are white and ivory; however, many companies carry black and a few other popular colors.

Add coordinated table cloths and your guest will feel like they are dining at a five star restaurant. The wonderful thing about chair covers is that if you don’t care for a monochromatic statement, you can add colorful sashes and bows to help make the most of your chair decorations. The sashes and bows, some places also offer rosettes, can come in a wide variety of colors to match your wedding. They are also available in a variety of fabrics as well.

If you would prefer to have an organza bow drape your linen or satin chair covers, it is as simple as choosing the colors. Organza adds an airy feel while satin and linen sashes and bows will be more substantial. Keep in mind that you will likely pay more for a fabric other than linen and specialty bows like the rosettes may also be an added charge. However, the effect is often more than worth the cost.

Flowers
Flowers can add an enchanted feel to your wedding chair decor as well as an exquisite fragrance if you use live or dried flowers. Garlands of flowers can be hung from the backs of the chairs or pin them on chair covers.

If you are using fresh flowers check with the chair cover rental agency about their guidelines. You wouldn’t want to end up paying for the damage crushed flower petals may cause, and you want to make sure pinning is acceptable. Choose flowers that coordinate with the rest of the wedding. Consider wrapping strands of them around tulle for a fairy tale feel. Secure the ends with ribbons, and your chair is decorated.

Another way to use flowers as chair decorations is to place one in a chair sash, or to make a simple bow with tulle or satin and secure a flower in the middle. Place the flower bows on the corners of the chairs and allow ribbon or tulle to drape down the side of the chair.

Equally quaint and lovely would be filling a tussie mussie holder with a few flowers and using a sturdy ribbon to attach it to a chair back. This adds an antique flavor to your decor and makes your chair decorations seem classic. In order to keep costs down with any of these options, just decorate half the chairs. You will still have made a lovely statement for half the cost.

Tulle, satin, vines and more
Simple can make a statement, and if you want something easy that is also cost effective consider one of the following options:

1. Drape a swath of tulle in your choice of colors around the top of the chair. Secure with a knot or wire and add a large silk or fresh flower for color.
2. Tie a wide satin ribbon around the chair where the seat meets the back. Make sure you tie it into a big bow and allow the ends to trail almost to the floor.
3. Use a fake ivy vine or vine with berries that you like and wrap around the tops of the chairs and allow it to trail almost to the floor on one side or simply use it as a garland.

Using chair decorations at your wedding is an easy way to set the mood for your occasion. It is a small detail that will make a big impact at your reception. Spend as much or as little as you like, and you will still have the best seat in the house.
