Wedding Scrapbooks
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something
blue— What exactly becomes of these precious wedding keepsakes?
Often brides find themselves scouting for fancy hatboxes or
expensive frames to display sentimental wedding mementos.
Scrapbooking is an activity that allows the couple to cherish
wedding photos and memorabilia of that special day forever.
Scrapbooking is a hobby of renewed interest lately. Supply
companies are popping up everywhere with new innovative ways to
creatively display your most precious wedding memories.
Unlike traditional photo albums, scrapbooks allow you to save
matchbooks, keepsake handkerchiefs, poems, wedding invitations or
even a copy of your vows along side pictures from the ceremony and
reception. Keep the garter, six pence and a centerpiece bow all in
one place.
Getting Started
After the honeymoon is an ideal time to start your wedding
scrapbook. This way photos and souvenirs from the ceremony,
reception and honeymoon can be included. Some couples may want to
include items from their courtship. Plan the book out ahead of
time. Know what events leading up to and including the wedding are
to be included. This will help plan page layouts.
Novices may want to invest in a beginner’s scrapbook workshop to
get started. Workshops offer a great opportunity to learn new
craft techniques, see product demonstrations and exchange
decorating ideas.
Scrapbook manufacturers offer a wide variety of materials to
choose from. In fact, actual wedding themed kits do exist. Kits
include a standard scrapbook with blank pages, wedding themed
stickers and paper.
A number of ancillary products will be required in addition to a
kit. Tools such as scissors, exacto knifes, metallic pens, page
protectors, rubber stamps, decorative photo corners are just a
few.
Be Creative
While a kit is a great way to get started, you may want to choose
individual items for your wedding scrapbook to make it more
unique. Typically books included in kits are basic and functional.
However, there are a wide variety of fabrics, textures and colors
to choose from. Since this is going to be a record of one of the
happiest moments in life, you may want to choose a book separate
from those that kits provide.
Each page is a canvas for your imagination. Paper punchers,
embossers and elegant wedding themed paper create a lasting
impression. Layout each page you’re your preferred shapes, colors
and designs. Create scroll borders with butterfly, bow or even
Cinderella graphics.
Gift Ideas
Scrapbooks are not only a great wedding keepsake for the
newlyweds, but also make personalized gifts for bridal party
attendants and as a thank you to parents. Baby pictures and
childhood artwork can create a collage of special moments that
you’ve shared with your loved ones.
Timeless Treasure
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a scrapbook is worth
ten thousand. This is a fantastic way to make your own
personalized wedding decoration.
