Wine lovers everywhere will appreciate the diversity and culture
you’ll bring to them at your wine theme wedding. A wine theme
wedding is the perfect venue for the wine enthusiast who wants to
introduce guests to their favorite wine and/or favorite wine
producing regions of the world. Furthermore, it’s a great way to
break away from the typical and predictable wedding reception and
make your wedding day creative and original!
Begin by selecting a venue that will enable you to offer guests
the wine that you want to serve them. For example, if you have
your wedding at a winery, chances are you will probably only be
able to serve the wine that they produce. However, if you choose
to have your wedding at a country club, and/or reception hall,
then it may be possible for you to have the event catered and you
can select wine ahead of time.
One of the greatest aspects of a wine theme wedding is that you
can choose your favorite types of wine and share them with others,
who may not have as much experience tasting wine. To this end,
it’s great to get the guests involved!
A wonderful way to involve guests is to set up “tasting stations”
throughout the reception area. Each station will serve one type of
wine, and the person who is serving the wine should have
information about where the wine was produced, the year it was
made and the flavors that the taster is likely to experience after
the first sip. Make sure that the servers are educated about each
of the wine(s) that they are pouring, so that guests can ask
questions and learn more about each type of wine they are tasting.
To get even more creative, you can decorate the reception area
according to the regions of the world where the wine that you’re
serving is produced (i.e. Napa Valley in California, Tuscany in
Italy, Bordeaux in France). This will enable guests to feel as
though they are being transported to different areas of the world
and it will allow them to really experience the wine and scenery
from each region.
Another great way to get guests involved in your wine theme
wedding is to name each of the dinner tables after a particular
wine (for example, Sancerre, Beaujolais, etc). The centerpiece on
each table can include a bottle of the wine that the table was
named after as well as some facts and information about the wine
for guests to read and learn about.
Wine theme weddings are also great opportunities to really
decorate your wedding in an elegant fashion. Wine has a long
history of sophistication; specifically in regard to the way that
it’s served as well as the type of people who consume it. Of
course, as wine has become more popular in recent years, the
popular opinion about wine drinking has changed, but you can still
decorate your wedding with this idea in mind.
Serve wine to guests in elegant glasses and decorate in simple but
classy colors, like silver, white or gold. Having a wine theme
wedding is also a great way for you to pair wine and food
together. Work with a chef or the person in charge of your
catering to pick food and wine that match up nicely. Not only will
this show guests that you have a flair for wine, but it will also
be a great hit during dinner!
Wine themed weddings allow for a lot of flexibility in terms of
the food and decor that you bring. The most important aspect of a
wine theme wedding is of course, the wine! To that end, make sure
you select your favorite wines, and the rest of the wedding can
follow suit!
