Decorating For A Home Wedding Can Be Fun!
There is nothing more intimate than having a wedding in a
private home. Often, people choose to have weddings in their home
or the home of a family member or close friend as a way to save
money, but to also make guests (as well as the bride and groom)
feel comfortable.
Decorating for a home wedding does not have to be stressful. There
are a few ways to make decorating for a home wedding an enjoyable
and satisfying experience for both the home owners and the wedding
party.

The first step in decorating for a home wedding is to plan ahead!
Since you'll be using someone's home, it's best to check in with
them (whether it's your parents or your best friend) to make sure
that the house will be in order prior to and on the wedding day.
This would include: making arrangements for the housekeeper to
come a day or two before the wedding, speaking with the gardener
to make sure trees and grass are trimmed and of course, it's a
good idea to make sure you select a wedding date that works for
the people hosting the wedding!
Secondly, be as helpful as possible! Weddings are hard to plan and
even more challenging to decorate for. The people who will be
decorating for your home wedding often feel a great deal of
pressure, since they realize this will be one of the most
important days in your life. Lend a hand whenever you can and let
the people whose home you'll be using for the wedding know that
you appreciate them.
Once the date is planned everything is in order, it's time to
begin decorating!
The best place to have a home wedding is outside. If the home has
a large garden or backyard, it's quite easy to build a small arch
to which you can stand under during the ceremony. Cover the arch
and the area surrounding it with fresh flowers and you've
successfully finished decorating for the ceremony portion of the
wedding!
Set up white folding chairs on the grass behind the arch where
your guests can sit. White folding chairs can look classy against
a green grass background. And, white folding chairs are easy to
rent and to set up!
If the reception and the ceremony are both outside, then it's best
to place large tables outside, lining the house, when you're
setting up the food for a home wedding. This way, the tables
cannot be knocked over. Dress the tables with fresh flower
bouquets, bows and nice tablecloths that match the colors used in
the arch where the ceremony is to be held.
If the backyard is not very large and you cannot set up tables for
the guests to sit to eat, then you may have to make the inside of
your home available for people to sit on couches, chairs, etc.
Assuming that the home wedding is all outdoors, then decorating
for a home wedding inside should not take much effort. Of course,
guests will travel inside the house to get outside, and they are
likely to walk in and out of the house to use the restroom, but
chances are they will not be spending much time inside. To that
end, keep decorations to a minimum inside the house – it's much
easier to focus on the outside; plus, it will save loads of money!
Have a few floral arrangements in the home, perhaps in the living
room, foyer and one in the restroom that the guests will use. Try
to keep the house tidy by picking up magazines, newspapers or toys
that may normally be in the home, but don't make it look un-lived
in. One of the best aspects of decorating for a home wedding is
that the celebration is in a place where everyone should feel
comfortable; a well lived in home suits that need perfectly!
Decorating for a home wedding can be a great experience that
allows the home owner (whether it's a relative or a friend) to
really get involved in your wedding. Cherish the experience, try
to keep the stress level to a minimum and you can easily decorate
for the home wedding without hassle.
