Destination Wedding
Have A Destination Wedding Close To Home!
With all the talk of destination weddings lately, you may be
feeling a little left out. Maybe you can’t afford to take that
much time off from work, or perhaps you simply don’t have the
funds to jet away to an island or mountain retreat.
The good news is that you don’t have to spend a fortune a have a
terrific destination wedding! Here’s some ideas about how you can
have one.
Start looking for your destination wedding locale as nearby as you
can—in your own city. Do you have a famous state park? A historic
Church? How about a quaint little bed and breakfast tucked away in
a quiet location? All of these places can serve as ideal locations
for a destination type wedding party.
Play up whatever area you choose. For example, if you choose to
hold your wedding party at a local bed-and-breakfast, choose a
theme that goes well with it. Is it a Victorian hotel? Have a
Victorian theme wedding party. Does it border a seaside? A
beach theme wedding would
be perfectly suited.
What? You live in a major metropolis and a quaint bed and
breakfast simply doesn’t exist? Host a skyscraper theme wedding
party, complete with rooftop dancing and sparkling party favors!
If you can’t find anything interesting in your own city, expand
your vision to your entire state. Most states have great historic
landmarks and state parks that would be great for hosting
destination theme wedding parties. In addition, you’ll likely find
scores of vineyards, botanical gardens, museums and other locales
that would serve as ideal spots for your wedding party.
Once you find your location, you may have to do some long-distance
planning. Start by talking to the people where you have decided to
host your destination wedding party, because they may be able to
give you referrals for florists, caterers and photographers.
In addition, take plenty of photographs while you’re there, so you
won’t have to try and remember the color schemes and physical
outlay of the location while you are planning the wedding decor.
Finally, give your guests plenty of notice so that they will be
able to attend your affair. Mail your invitations early, and even
consider chartering a bus to get all of your guests to the event.
Most of all, have fun. A destination wedding can quickly become a
stressful event if you don’t relax and have fun throughout the
process.
