Why Not Use Pumpkins For Your Autumn Wedding Decorations?
Whoever said jack-o-lanterns are just for Holidays? If you're
planning an autumn wedding, decorating can be as easy as pumpkins.
Autumn wedding decorations can include pumpkins in all sizes, from
cute little mini-pumpkins in flower arrangements to an enormous
carved and lighted pumpkin in the center of your buffet table.
Here are ten ideas for autumn wedding decorations that include
pumpkins.
Having an autumn Cinderella wedding? Why not use real pumpkins for
the wedding coach? Create the coaches with a medium sized pumpkin
on a wagon frame. Embellish the stem with a gold crown and twine
ivy and flowers around the frame. Stand it in the middle of a
silver platter heaped with fall flowers.
Carry on the Cinderella theme with pewter place card holders in
the shape of pumpkin coaches. They're available from wedding
supply houses for about $2 each.
If you have an artistic friend that's handy with a poker and a
knife, have him create a custom wedding design for a pumpkin.
Pumpkin carving isn't just scary faces anymore. It's become an art
form all on its own. You can find patterns online for castles,
wedding doves, ribbons and almost anything else you might have
chosen for a theme. Use a big one as a centerpiece on the buffet
table, or have one carved for each table.
Pick up mini-pumpkins at the supermarket and use them as place
card holders. Choose them as uniformly as possible, picking
brightly colored, firm pumpkins no more than 3 inches in diameter.
Insert a plastic pick cardholder into the pumpkin's flesh at the
back, and slide the place card into the pick's holder.
Tumble several medium and small pumpkins from a cornucopia on each
table. Decorate the cornucopia with ribbons and flowers in the
wedding colors and tuck other flowers and fruits in between the
pumpkins.
If you're also planning the menu and doing the cooking, find
several large, well-shaped pumpkins and make pumpkin tureens.
Pumpkin bisque is a delicately flavored soup that's served right
out of the pumpkin shell. Decorate a platter with ivy and greens,
stand the pumpkin in the middle and fill with soup. Add a ladle
and you have a menu item and decoration all in one!
For unusual centerpieces, place a burgundy doily on a cake
pedestal. Arrange autumn leaves around the edges of the doily and
set a pumpkin in the center. Twine ivy up over the pumpkin and let
it trail over the edges of the plate decoratively.
Another pumpkin centerpiece idea that's great for an autumn
wedding decoration: paint the pumpkin with clear glue, and then
sprinkle with iridescent glitter. Tie a gold or silver ribbon
around the stem, letting the ends trail down along the sides.
Candles and pumpkins were meant to go together - but instead of
setting a tea light inside a hollowed out pumpkin, use a thick
pedestal candle that peeks over the top of the pumpkin's hollow.
Surround with autumn flowers and leaves and set in the middle of
the table.
Using the same idea as above - but pick several pumpkins in
varying sizes. Glue and glitter with iridescent glitter, and fill
with different sizes of candles - votive size, small and large
pillars.
Autumn is a beautiful time of the year to get married. Hopefully,
that handful of autumn wedding decoration ideas has got you
thinking up some ideas of your own!
