Get Wild With A Western Wedding Theme

So, a white lace dress and pearls just isn’t your thing? Would you rather kick about in a pair of well-worn boots and a cowboy hat? Then you should probably consider a western wedding theme party! Ready for some ideas?

Start by looking for idea location. It would be ideal if you can find a country field or an old red and white barn. The key is to make your guests to feel as if they have just entered the old wild west.

For western wedding decoration items we recommend Shindigz.com for large selection and low prices  Look under the 'Theme parties' menu item for 'Western' or do a site search for 'western'.  For more online merchants, please visit our buyers guide.

You should have fun while planning your western wedding decor. Think cowboy boots, bandanas, and old wooden barrels. Hay may be just that perfect decoration for that large corner. If fact, it wouldn’t hurt to sprinkle a little of it around on the floor!

Your food should be served by waiters dressed as old, rugged cowboys. Think of down-home food like chicken, beans and potato salad.

You’ll have to be selective with your music to make sure that the western theme carries forward. Hire a band that specializes in country music, and then ask them to liven things up by playing fast and hard.

Your wedding table decor selection will be endless with a western theme wedding. You could fill an old boot with wildflowers, make original centerpieces from wood and horseshoes, or even buy some glass boots, fill them with flowers and wrap a colorful bandana around them.

Your dress will be fun too. If you want to wear a traditional dress, top it off with just the right cowboy hat. If not, you could wear a period piece—an old fashioned down home style wedding gown. Dress your groom in the old-fashioned cowboy duds they used to wear for dressier occasions.

Of course, no western theme wedding would be complete unless you exited the wedding party on horseback. The groom should mount first, and then pull you up so that you’re sitting side-saddle. Throw your bouquet from horseback for an exit that will stay in your guest’s minds for a long time to come.
